Therapeutic Areas

Clinical research is a bridge between findings and real-world application. Each therapeutic area in clinical research encompasses a specific domain of human health and disease.

Comprehensive knowledge of basic concepts of (bio)chemistry, biology, anatomy, physiology, pathology, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, clinical pharmacology, toxicology, epidemiology, biostatistics

as well as of the legal and regulatory framework of clinical research allows Vital translators to provide specialised translations of clinical trial and regulatory documentation generated during the discovery and development processes of new therapeutic interventions in each therapeutic area.

Check the therapeutic areas we specialise in and the specialised translation services we offer to learn how we can help multidisciplinary, multinational on-site research teams with internal communication as well as with communication with the sponsor and with the competent regulatory authority with precise, high-quality, terminology-compliant and timely translations.

We provide specialised translations of texts about diagnosis and management of renal dysfunctions such as acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, ESRD caused by chronic diseases that put a strain on the kidneys (hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol), infections and lifestyle factors | diuretics, calcium-binding agents, potassium-binding agents, ACEi, ARBs, SGLT2 inhibitors,
GLP-1 receptor agonists, dialysis, kidney transplant

We contribute with specialised translations of texts about women’s reproductive health, hormonal disorders, and gynecologic oncology; for example, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, contraception, menopausal disorders, infertility, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer as well as breast cancer | nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, hormonal contraceptives, hormonal IUDs, hormone therapies, intraperitoneal chemotherapy, antibody-drug conjugates, PARP inhibitors

Within this therapeutic area, we translate texts about interventions that target moderate to severe skin conditions such as acne, prurigo, atopic dermatitis, and skin cancers (carcinomas and melanomas) | emollients, moisturizers, topical corticosteroids, topical calcineurin inhibitors, antihistamines, PDE4 inhibitors, immunosuppressants, neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies

MEDICAL TRANSLATION

Whether for healthcare professionals or for patients and/or their caregivers, we provide precise translations of medical content related to healthcare delivery, patient care, and medical devices, such as, medical records, hospital admission or discharge papers, instructions for use, etc., adapting the translation approach and using the appropriate language (technical or simplified) based on the target audience of the medical document.

Vital Translations is the language service provider you can trust.

PHARMACEUTICAL TRANSLATION

Due to the highly technical, sensitive and regulated nature of the pharmaceutical industry, translators with comprehensive knowledge of (bio)chemistry, molecular and cellular biology, anatomy and physiology of the human body, toxicology and pharmacology, familiar with medical and pharma terminology, but most importantly, with the target language regulatory framework and the terminology of mandatory use are required. We accompany the processes of drug development by providing precise, high-quality and timely translations of key documentation.

Vital Translations is the language service provider you can trust.

LEGAL TRANSLATION

Translation of documents with legal content related to product approval, quality control, marketing, and post-marketing monitoring require the expertise of translators knowledgeable not only with language and terminology, but with the regulatory and legal framework of drug development. We support communication between sponsors, investigators or manufacturers with the competent regulatory authority by providing translation of key legal documentation related to drug development.

AUDIOVISUAL TRANSLATION

Medical and scientific knowledge is generally published in well-known international journals. But congresses, conferences, seminars, symposiums, video capsules, or even podcasts are also common channels for sharing medical and scientific information. We provide multimedia content translation (audio and on-screen text) which includes transcription and subtitling services conducted with the same precision and quality as we do with other types of documents.

Desktop Publishing Services

This is one of the final stages of the translation and localisation processes. A team of experts in the field of desktop publishing (DTP) helps us create professional output of translated files by creating layouts and quality digital documents or documents for print to ensure that the translated document format keeps the integrity of the original design. It applies to any type of document: detailing material, bulletins, booklets, brochures, presentations, visual aids, and so forth.

Are translation and interpretation the same kind of language service?

No. Although both translation and interpretation are language services that require the linguists in charge to be proficient in both the source language and the target language, have translation skills as well as subject matter knowledge on the topic they are working with and be accurate in conveying the tone and intent of the original message, these services serve different purposes. The translation service implies working with written text. Translators work with different types of documents to be printed, published online or even exchanged with other people. The interpretation service implies working with speech; that is, spoken text. Interpreters can work in situ, for example, in meetings, congresses, seminars, over the phone or via videocall. Whether you need a translation service or an interpretation service, always trust certified professional linguists.

No. The translation of regulatory documentation requires in-depth knowledge of the source and target regulatory affairs as well as of the terminology of mandatory use in the pharmaceutical industry to provide high-quality and timely translations and help avoid delays during drug authorisation and registration processes. The translation of advertising materials requires subject matter knowledge plus a touch of creativity, a combination of translation and copywriting skills to transfer the creative language —generally lost during a direct translation— into the target language to achieve the desired response from the target audience.

Yes. The desktop publishing (DTP) service can be provided as an integrated part of the translation process or as an independent service. In the first case, the client sends us the file for translation, and we then deliver a translated file that keeps the integrity of the original design. In the second case, the client sends the linguistic content and the specifications for page layout and a team of experts in the field of desktop publishing generates page layouts and produces printed or digital materials using DTP software. In both cases, we can advise the client on professional output aligned with the target language’s visual layout and design requirements.

Yes. The method for establishing translation rates is based on source word count, language pair, complexity of the document, project volume and urgency of delivery. When clients contact us to get a quote, we analyse the file(s) to determine total word count and the complexity of the file(s) and we also take into account the language pair; for example, if it is English into Spanish, or Spanish into English. Special discount rates may apply in big-volume projects and extra “rush charges” may apply in the case of urgent deliveries.

Yes. To be able to provide a quote, we first need to analyse the file(s) to determine the word count, the complexity and the translation steps that would be involved in the whole translation process; that is, we need to evaluate whether there is non-editable text that needs to be converted into editable text to be translated, determine the total word count to estimate the translation time and delivery date, and assess whether the file(s) require desktop publishing (DTP). To be able to provide an accurate quote, we need to see and analyse the file(s).
